A Victorian oak framed display case which can be hung or sit on a tabletop. It originally housed a collection of exotic butterflies and beetles and comes with all the original pins, nowadays probably better suited to displaying curios, jewellery or coins. There is a crack to one corner of the glass otherwise in nice original condition. The interior is covered with it's original red fabric, the centre has a raised cushioned circle  for the star of the display, underneath this a paper from the Calcutta Exhibition can be seen allowing us to confirm it's history. The frame and glass are easily removed by releasing the six screws on the reverse.

The frame measures 40.5 x 41.5cm the frame is 7cm deep and the depth of the interior is 4cm.
