An antique brass compound Microscope by Ernst Leitz and from 1900. This is a beautiful microscope, appearing to be in good working order. The microscope is a magnificent piece of precision engineering and marked on the base ' E. Leitz Wetzlar No 51629'. There are two slide in boxes one containing filters and stops and the other two glass covers for slide content, the other has one lens and three empty lens cases, a spare eyepiece is secured on the side and there are an additional two other brass cases with stops. The case does not have a key. The the door is the original record card and a small esngraved plate for the retailer "A. Frazer of Edinburgh".The Microscope stands 30cm (11.81") high 36cm (14.17") when extended, and the case stands 36cm (14.17") high.
